Goat milk that doesn’t taste “Goaty”
Chances are if you’ve tried goat milk from the store you’ve experienced the awful “goaty” taste, almost as if you’re sniffing the goat while you drink it. The milk you would get from your herdshare is nothing like this! It is slightly more creamy and sweet. The “goaty” flavor tends to come from one or both scenarios. Either a) the milk wasn’t cooled quickly after milking or b) the smelly buck was kept in the same pen as the does and his scent got trapped in with the milk. — We always chill the milk immediately after milking the does and our bucks are not permanently housed with our does making your herdshare milk sweet and delicious as it should be!
Have a dairy sensitivity?
Many of our herdshare members with lactose sensitivities have found they can easily drink and digest goat milk without any problems! Many people with dairy sensitivities have been able to digest raw milk as opposed to normal pasteurized cows milk, however some of our members have found they are even unable to digest raw cows milk but have no issues with the goat milk. This is primarily due to the smaller fat globules in goat milk. Cows milk in the store is homogenized to break down the fat and make it more digestible. Goat milk on the other hand is naturally homogenized and easily digestible.
Did you know, goat milk is the closest milk to human breast milk? Historically if a mom wasn’t able to nurse her baby the baby would be raised on goats milk due to it’s easy digestibility.
